This page hosts additional tools for use with the statutory biodiversity metric. These tools are not part of the statutory metric and have been produced as an accompanying resource.
The statutory biodiversity metric, including user guides, condition assessments and small sites metric is hosted on gov.uk
OVERVIEW OF METRIC CHANGES
This document provides an overview of the most significant changes to the biodiversity metric package between Natural England published version 4.0 and the Defra published statutory biodiversity metric.
QGIS TEMPLATE AND GIS IMPORT TOOL
The QGIS template and QGIS import tools have been designed to provide a standardised methodology to record spatial data in a format suitable for the requirements of the biodiversity metric and small sites metric.
The tool directly inputs mapped data into a metric calculation tool. It uses Comma Separated Values (CSV) files and includes a GIS Data Standard to assist with producing compatible data.
DATA TABLE REFERENCES
The statutory biodiversity metric includes statutory data values embedded within the metric calculation tool and small sites metric.
For ease of reference these data values will be published here in alternative formats.
A detailed technical annex for the statutory metric will be published shortly.
CASE STUDIES
This site will be updated periodically with case studies to inform the use of the statutory metric and small sites metric.
